For the people of Senj their Summer Festival is probably the most important event of the year. For weeks before the carnival atmosphere penetrates into the most hidden nooks and crannies of the town. And when it starts, the carnival fun lasts the whole week without stopping – masked groups compete in the carnival games, there is a masked motorised Alka, dance performances, street performances, pavement painting and so on. Amidst all the events that accompany it, the carnival parade with as many as 3000 masked revellers, is undoubtedly the peak of the whole week.
