One morning back in 1291, the lumberjacks of Trsat saw a cottage in the woods that had not been there before. Frightened and puzzled, they notified Pastor Jurjević of the miracle, and he calmed them down, telling them he knew what it was all about. This happened to be the Nazareth cottage of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which the angels had moved to Trsat in fear of the Turkish conquerors, where it had stood for a full three years and seven months. Then came the time for the cottage to continue its journey to Loreto where it was destined to be in the first place. To console the locals, Prince Martin Frankopan decided to built a Franciscan monastery in the same place. Today, Trsat has its Shrine of Virgin Mary, known for many answered prayers and pilgrimages involving many people, especially on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
