One of the most striking symbols of Krapina is certainly the primeval Neanderthal man of Krapina, the Krapina Neanderthal, a unique source of pride and a witness of Krapina’s ancient and rich history. Therefore, a visit to Krapina is not merely a visit to a town, but a visit to a well known archeological locality, one of the cribs of humanity in this region. In order to highlight the town’s values, various programmes organized under the common name of Summer with the Neanderthals of Krapina take place during the month of August in the streets of Krapina. For those who wish to attend the events within the Summer, there is a train departing from Zagreb. After arrival in Krapina, guests may take a sightseeing tour with expert guidance, visit the parish fair on Trški vrh or join the excursion to the nearby hill of StrahinjĨica. In addition, during the five Sundays in August, topical programmes are organized on Hušnjakovo: the Sunday of the Burghers, the Then and the Now, the Sunday of the Krapina Neanderthal, the Ethno Sunday and the Festival Sunday.
