The life of a miner is often used as a metaphor for a hard life full of hard toil and sacrifice. A visit to the old mines represents much more than walking into the dark bowels of a mountain. It means paying respect to people whose job is undoubtedly among the most demanding and hazardous of all human endeavours In the Middle Ages miners were digging for lead and zinc ore at the altitude of 830 m. The remains of that mine have been preserved and, having been attended to, now represents an attractive tourist destination. Visit the old mine, get a feel of what life was like for those men, and relax in the beauty of nature surrounding you, but also in the traditional cuisine of the Grafičar mountain lodge.
